Why this is confusing

Split has one ferry port, not several, but that port has a handful of named quays a few hundred metres apart along the harbourfront, and different operators — sometimes the same operator on different days — use different ones. "The Split ferry" is not one pier; arriving without checking which quay is the single most common way to miss a sailing here.

The quays, as commonly used

Jadrolinija's car ferries — the Split–Supetar, Split–Stari Grad, Split–Vela Luka and other domestic car-ferry lines — load from Gat Sv. Duje, the pier directly in front of Jadrolinija's own terminal building opposite the bus station. Jadrolinija's own fast passenger boats have used Gat Sv. Nikole. Krilo's catamarans have used Gat Sv. Petra, where Krilo also runs a ticket kiosk on the quay itself. None of this is fixed by line number the way a bus route is — port sources describe departure points shifting between quays depending on the day's schedule and which vessel is in port.

The e-ticket or paper ticket from your operator states the quay for your specific sailing, and it's the authority over anything general written here.
